The Colosseum
Stockton’s famous 90’s all nighter reinvented on a huge scale.
Revisit the 90’s at the Colosseum
The Colosseum was an established all night rave event in Norton, Stockton on Tees from 1995 to 1997. Steven Leck (DJ N.R.G) worked there and would be a guest DJ before him and his dad took the club on. A few slight changes were made to put their own stamp on the club. Their focus was to get a bigger sound system, top quality lights and lasers along with booking the hottest, biggest artists and DJ’s around.
The Colosseum was a massive hit in the North East and went as far as getting crowds travelling from Scotland and as far down as the Midlands. The music style had a bit of everything, keeping up to date with the electronic music trends of the time. You had bouncy techno, hardcore, happy hardcore and early German trance. Warm up DJ’s in room 2 would play the likes of Hard House, Trance, Euro & Italian Dance.
After closing it’s doors in 1997 there have been a few come back nights over the years, BUT in 2022 The Colosseum was celebrating its 25 year anniversary. A massive one night event was put together by Steven and his new team. It was a fantastic success and people wanted more. So, the Colosseum revival events continued into 2023, 24 and 25. Each year the line up and headline artists got bigger and better everytime and they would stand alongside original Colosseum resident DJ’s and MC’s as well as up and coming local talent.
